Our Scope of Care
Our Doctors of Optometry are independent primary health care providers who examine, diagnose, treat and manage diseases and disorders of the visual system, the eye and associated structures, as well as diagnose related systemic conditions.
Our optometrists examine the internal and external structures of the eyes to diagnose eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts and retinal disorders; systemic diseases, including hypertension and diabetes; and visual conditions such as near sightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia. We also perform tests to determine the patient's ability to focus and coordinate eyes, judge depth and see colors accurately.
Our optometrists prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses, low vision aids, vision therapy and medications to treat eye diseases, as well as perform certain medical procedures.
As the nation's primary care providers, optometrists are an integral part of the health care team and an entry point in the the health care system. They are skilled in the co-management of care that affects the health of the eye and the vision of their patients and they are an excellent source of referrals to othe health care professionals.
Preventative Eye Care
We believe that preventative eye care is key to the long-term health of your eyes. So we incorporate the latest technology to maximize the way you see and to check for a variety of conditions that are often overlooked in the initial, yet most treatable stages. Our doctors are Board Certified in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease.
We are among the first who are able to take digital images of the inside of the eye with our Optomap digital imaging system. This can afford the early detection of diabetes, hypertension, macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal detachments and many other disorders. Our GDx with Vcc Laser Scanning System is the most sensitive test for the early detection of nerve fiber loss in glaucoma. We also offer our OCT Laser Scanning System for our patients with Macular or Optic Nerve issues.
These instruments, among others, keep us as leaders in technology in the Cleveland area and provide our patients with improved disease detection and treatment capabilities.
